Born in Abilene, Texas, on 10 July 1980, fame was hardly instant or easy for Jessica Simpson. Her first record deal fell through when the independent label that signed her went bankrupt before her album could be released. She then missed the final cut to join the Mickey Mouse Club to Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. Along the way a few more recording deals fell through until a demo of hers wound up on the desk of Tommy Mottola.
After being signed by Mottola life seemed to be on track. She met Nick Lachey of 98 Degrees at a charity event and went on to marry and co-star with him in the MTV show The Newlyweds which made her a star. After three years however the couple split. Jessica rebounded quickly and found herself with a slew of record and acting propsals as well as a regular slot on the numerous lists of the world's hottest women.
Currently Simpson is still single after a split with Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo in 2009. She is now the host of the VH1 show The Price of Beauty which explores issues regarding body image and what beauty is defined as in different cultures around the world.
