Tina Turner was born Anna Mae Bullock in Nutbush, Tennessee, on 26 Novenber 1939. Rising up from a difficult childhood she was discovered by her future husband Ike Turner whom added her to his band as the lead singer, While success seemed to come easily on stage, behind the scenes Tina suffered through horrific abuse at the hands of Ike leading to a divorce proceeding in which she was willing to give up her rights to everything built during the narriage with the exception of her stage name - Tina Turner.
Turner went on to find incredible success after paying her dues again performing solo in Vegas lounge acts. Her release of Private Dancer was her rebirth reaching number with a string of hits, most notably What's Love Got to Do With it? Turner then went on to appear in movies and on television while selling out concerts around the world for nearly thirty years and counting.
