Born on 26 February 1932, Johnny Cash rose from humble beginnings to become recognized as one of the most influential musicians of the century. While Cash was often viewed as a musical and sometimes real life outlaw early in his career, in the end he was recognized as one of the most versatile musicians of his or any generation.
Until the day he died, The Man in Black entertained audiences in nearly any venue that asked him to, including prisons. Whether he performed solo, with his wife June Carter Cash, or the entire Carter family, Johnny Cash was always worth the price of admission. His musical legacy lives on still today as is evidenced by his daughter Rosanne Cash and son John Carter Cash.
On 28 February 2010, it was reported Johnny Cash officially had more albums reach the top ten for the first time after his death than prior. Unlike the bulk of his company in that select group like Tupac Shakur, Janis Hoplin, Jim Croce, Aaliyah, Selena, Notorious B.I.G., and Kurt Cobain, Cash had dozens of albums released - not just a handful.
